Marie Stopes South Africa joins millions around the globe in mourning the loss of one of the world’s most respected leaders, Nelson Mandela.
Never before has there been a man so truly loved, respected and admired by the world. It is now up to us to live his legacy of wisdom, compassion, peace, humility and tolerance. In doing so, we can give him the immortality he so richly deserves, and allow his legacy to live on for future generations.
As Mandela himself once said, “It always seems impossible until it is done”. Before the 5th of December, the day that our Angel Madiba was called home, we faced what seemed impossible. Now it is done. He has gone home. His long walk is now over. May he rest in eternal peace.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones and to everyone in our amazing nation whose lives have been touched by this great leader, father and man. We are deeply saddened by the loss of the father and icon of our nation and will always remember his selfless contribution to his country.
“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.” – Nelson Mandela, 1994.
